NOISE PROTECTION WALL BERLIN-KÖPENICK
Germany

As part of the infrastructure project “Berlin – Frankfurt/Oder – border D/PL”, extensive construction work is being carried out in the Köpenick station area. Both the urban rail line and the parallel urban rail line Berlin Ostbahnhof – Erkner are being renewed. In addition to the traffic facilities, comprehensive noise protection measures in the form of noise protection walls and retaining walls are being built. The total length of the planned noise protection walls is approx. 3.8 km with a height of up to 5.0 m above the upper edge of the rails. The noise protection walls are located on both sides of the railroad line and also between the tracks. The retaining walls with a length of approx. 300 m have to be built in different construction methods, ranging from angle retaining walls to gravity walls placed on bored pile walls.

On behalf of Strabag Rail GmbH from Freital, convex ZT GmbH is carrying out the civil works execution design of the noise protection walls and some retaining walls in this section. Due to the size of the overall project, a large number of interfaces with other planners and other parties involved have to be taken into account during planning, for example, for the connection to Köpenick station or to the numerous, newly constructed underpasses.
