NOISE PROTECTION WALL WIENER NEUDORF
Austria

We are working on the highest noise barrier ever erected in Austria! The new measures will protect more than 5.300 residents from traffic noise on this busy section of motorway (up to 200,000 vehicles daily). Between autumn 2020 and summer 2021, extensive noise protection measures will be implemented in the area of the A2 South Motorway in the Wiener Neudorf section along the Graz directional lane. The highest noise protection wall ever erected in Austria will be constructed over a length of about 1,000 metres – the wall will have a total height of 13.0 m. This height can no longer be reached with conventional systems with free-standing columns: so that a load-bearing system consisting of bored piles, reinforced concrete grids and precast concrete columns has to be used. This involves extensive earthworks for the removal and adaptation of existing noise barriers. In addition to this centrepiece of the project, another approx. 1,000 metres of noise barriers with heights of 5.50 m – 7.50 m will be constructed. The total cost is approximately 15 million euros.

On behalf of the construction companies HABAU / Bernegger, the execution design of the noise protection walls is being carried out by convex ZT GmbH and Zorn & Nowy ZT GmbH.
