ENERGY FROM WASTE ZISTERSDORF
.A.S.A. is erecting a waste incineration plant in Zistersdorf 60 km north of Vienna, at the site of an old brick-macking plant with an area of ten hectare. The plant has a capacity of 130.000 tons waste/year, the turn-key contractor is Von Roll Umwelttechnik GmbH. The heat generated during the incineration of waste is recovered and used for the generation of electrícity (EfW – Energy from Waste). The electricity of 100.000 MWh per year serves approx. 30.000 households. The project was of big public interest. An extensive environmental impact assessment with high public involvement was carried out.
The structural design is carried out by the consortium Heindl & Partner ZT GmbH, Zorn & Nowy ZT GmbH (www.nowyzorn.at) and convex ZT GmbH. The compact layout of the plant leads to interfaces of all structures that requires special attention to the respective detailing.
