EXPRESSWAY S6, BRIDGE REHABILITATION AND NOISE PROTECTION WALLS
In the years 2020 – 2021, the S6 Semmering Expressway will undergo a general overhaul in the Krieglach to Wartbergkogel section. In addition to pavement rehabilitation and the rehabilitation of two green bridges, 19 bridges and culverts will also undergo general rehabilitation and over 2.7 km of new noise protection walls with an effective height of up to 4.0 m and a total area of approx. 7,000 m2 will be erected.
The refurbishment will be carried out separately for both directional lanes while maintaining traffic. The largest of the bridges to be refurbished has a length of 170m. The scope of refurbishment of the different structures ranges – depending on the type of construction – from simple concrete refurbishment to new construction of the structural slabs.
The new noise protection walls are located along both directional carriageways and consist of highly absorbing aluminium cassettes and partly of transparent acrylic glass elements. The uniform design concept of raum-werk-stadt architects must be taken into account in the design- as was already the case in previous construction phases along the S6.
On behalf of ASFINAG Bau Management GmbH, convex ZT GmbH was responsible for the execution design as well as the tender preparation of the bridge refurbishment and noise protection measures.
